WASHBURN – Mrs. Sheila Maureen (Nevers) Shaw, 69, passed away peacefully, Monday, Feb. 14, 2011, surrounded by her family at her home in Washburn, after a brief illness.

Sheila was born July 22, 1941, in Presque Isle, the daughter of James and Christine (Thomas) Garard.

She was a graduate of Presque Isle High School. Sheila married the love of her life, Darrell, Jan. 18, 1957, and together they raised four children. Sheila worked at Northeast Publishing and Viner Brothers Manufacturing, and obtained her certified nurse’s aide certification in 1990. Sheila was fun loving and enjoyed life. She enjoyed reading, especially Stephen King novels and listening to music. Her favorite was ZZ Top. She also enjoyed watching the Food Network and going to garage sales.

She was predeceased by her parents and her husband. Sheila is survived by three daughters, Jayne and her husband, William Parker, of Mapleton, Patrice and her husband, Thomas Porter, of Presque Isle and Cynthia and husband, Douglas Allen, of Cross Lake; one son, James Shaw and his friend, Debbie, of Easton; one brother, James Nevers and his wife, Pat, of Presque Isle; six grandsons, three granddaughters, two great-grandsons, six great-granddaughters, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

There will be a celebration of Sheila’s life 1-4 p.m. Saturday, March 12, at her daughter Jayne’s home, 27 Wonderview Drive, Mapleton. Those wishing to make a contribution in Sheila’s memory may do so by donating to Central Aroostook Humane Society.
