LOVELAND, Colo. – Edith LaJoie passed away March 1, 2011, and went to join her family that has predeceased her. Edith was born July 17, 1937, in Lewiston.
She attended school in Lewiston. She married Cecil LaJoie, Nov. 14, 1957, in Caribou. Cecil was a truck driver and Edith started out as a homemaker. They moved to Williamsport, Pa., and continued to raise their family. As their children got older, she started her own cake decorating and catering business. Then in October 1977, Cecil died in a trucking accident. Edith finished raising her family. She entered the management of Foodservice from restaurants to retirement centers and skilled nursing homes. She moved to Florida to live out her golden years, working, enjoying her home and famil, and then retired in Bangor. Edith enjoyed being with and taking care of her family. She took great pride in her home, gardening in her yard and making beautiful wedding cakes for her children, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Patrick and Alma Gagnon; brothers, Paul and Johnny; sister, Edna; and her husband, Cecil LaJoie. Surviving are all her children, Cathy Heckman, Pat LaJoie, Florence LaJoie, Pam Carroll and James LaJoie; her eight grandchildren, Eric, Kevin Jr., Glen, Larry, Emily, Katherine, Jacob and Alex; and her five great-grandchildren, Blake, Taylor, Noah, Avirom and Trenton.
