CORINTH and HERMON – Florence Stella Clark Griffeth, 94, went to be with her Savior March 8, 2011, surrounded by her family at her home. She was born Sept. 19, 1916, in Caribou, daughter of the late Seeley and Aurissa (Curtis) Clark.
She graduated from Caribou High School. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and faithfully attended Charleston Pentecostal Church.
Florence is survived by two daughters, Reta Dixon of Richards, Texas, and Pearl Simpson of Hermon; one sister, Virginia Elliott of Corinth; brother, Elden Clark and his wife, Shirley, of Corinth; eight grandchildren, Florence Estes, Ned Dixon, Debra Howell, Nancy Smith, Orman Dixon, Donnie Kepple, Vanessa Holmes and Howard Kepple; 19 great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Orman, in 2007; brothers, Walter, George, Arnold, Benjamin, Sterling and Seeley Jr.; sisters, Dorothy, Madeline, Lottie and Waneta; a grandson, Johnnie Ray Jr.; and a special niece, Janet Clark, whom Florence raised. The family thanks Hospice of Eastern Maine, special friends, Eloise Griffin and caregiver, Carole Blakeman.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 16, at Charleston Pentecostal Church, 185 Main Road, Charleston, with the Rev. Matthew Ward officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Souls Harbor Ministry, P.O. Box 275, Corinth, ME 04427. Arrangements entrusted to Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden.
