BANGOR – Robert “Bob” E. Farrar Sr., 83, husband of Maegene (Weston) Farrar, died March 8, 2011, at a Bangor health care center. He was born May 16, 1927, in Hampden, the son of Manuel and Lena (Barnes) Farrar.
Bob served with the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II and was a merchant mariner. He worked for 32 years for Maine Central Railroad and also painted houses after retirement from the railroad. Bob was a talented builder who built his home on Bond Street, Bangor, and his camp on Beach Hill Pond, both places that his family shared many enjoyable times.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 64 years of Bangor, are two children, Michael Farrar of Georgia and Patricia Weston of Florida; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard Michaud of Florida; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Robert Farrar Jr.; and four brothers, Paul, Ken, Fran and Lewis.
Private burial will be at a later date at Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor. Arrangements by Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor.
