BUCKS HARBOR – Amy Noreen (Proctor) Ingalls, 99, wife of the late Arden Ingalls, died March 9, 2011, at a Machias hospital. She was born March 26, 1911, in Larrabee, the daughter of James and Mary (Robinson) Proctor.

At an early age she worked at a smoked herring stand in Indian Cove. In her later years she worked in the sardine factory in Machiasport and Lubec and a clam shop in Bucks Harbor. She was a lifelong devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Bucks Harbor Baptist Church and a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was also a member of the PTA, Grange, Heart and Hand, and Machiasport Historical Society.

She was a loving mother of three children, Lois Sprague and her husband, Vernon, of Starboard, Eleanor Fochesato and her husband, George, of Scotchs Plains, N.J., and Bobby Ingalls and his wife, Lana, of Bucks Harbor; 13 grandchildren, Janet, David, Douglas, Paul, Donna, Debbie, Lisa, Richard, Eric, Heather, Mark, Charles and Adam; and many great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Cora Quimby of Bucks Harbor; many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was predeceased by nine sisters; and her second husband, Raleigh Ingalls.

A celebration of her life will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 12, at Bucks Harbor Baptist Church. A graveside service at Hillside Cemetery, Bucks Harbor, will be announced later in the spring.
