SACO – Barbara Jean Heenie Raynes, 78, passed away March 9, 2011, at her residence. She was born April 12, 1932, in Gardiner, daughter of Myron and Dorothy (Brown) Heenie.
She was a graduate of Richmond High School and a postgraduate of Morse High School. In 1951 she married Warren E. Raynes in Bath, and recently they celebrated their 59th anniversary. She was a homemaker and moved to Saco in 1985. She was a member of Bangor Public Library for more than 50 years. She had a special relationship with them where she reviewed their book purchases from year to year. She most recently worked for the Journal Tribune as a proofreader and various other positions for seven years. She enjoyed reading animal books, novels and current events.
She was predeceased by her mother and father. Surviving are her husband of 59 years; a son, Jeffry Raynes and his wife, Frances, of Flemington, N.J.; a daughter, Lisa R. Raynes of Biddeford; three grandchildren, Anna Dufour, Benjamin Dufour and his wife, Jessica, and Sam Rutka; two other grandchildren, Jim Boxmeyer and David Boxmeyer and his wife, Kate; two great-grandchildren, Henry and Dean Dufour; and three other great-grandchildren, Will, Abby and Owen.
In keeping with Barbara’s wishes, there will be no services and burial will be private. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a donation to Animal Welfare Society, P.O.
