BANGOR, Maine — U.S. Attorney Thomas Delahanty II says a Mainer has been sentenced to more than 12 years in prison as an “armed career criminal.”
The 150-month prison sentence was imposed Friday on 62-year-old Joseph Grip of Waterville, who was arrested in December 2009 for having a sawed-off shotgun in his truck.
Police say he sped away from a traffic stop and then fled on foot. He pleaded guilty last June to being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Delahanty said Grip had multiple felony convictions including ones for burglary and narcotics trafficking. He was sentenced as an armed career criminal because of the previous convictions.
