Bangor’s assistant city manager is resigning.
Courtney O’Donnell informed the city of her decision Monday. She will stay at City Hall until the end of November, according to the city.
During her five years as assistant city manager, O’Donnell oversaw the adoption of a regional climate action plan, the negotiation of more than 20 collective bargaining agreements, the temporary move of City Hall, the name change of Gerald Talbot Park and the implementation of a new city website and notification system.
“After more than five years, I have decided to change direction while still leveraging my knowledge and experience to help municipalities across Maine,” O’Donnell said in a Wednesday morning statement. “I’ve enjoyed my time with the City and will always be fond of Bangor. Over the next three months, I will do everything possible to ensure a smooth transition.”
City Manager Carollynn Lear said the city is moving quickly to find O’Donnell’s successor.
Lear said the City will move promptly to find its next assistant city manager.
“Courtney’s broad experience, professionalism, insight and fairness have made her invaluable to government operations in Bangor,” Lear said in a statement. “And those same qualities were important in assisting me when I took over as city manager in 2025.”
