MILLINOCKET – Robert S. “Bob” Robinson III, 61, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, March 10, 2011, at a Millinocket hospital. He was born June 12, 1949, in Bangor, the son of Robert S. and Gertrude (Tapley) Robinson Jr.

Bob loved spending time at camp, as well as anything having to do with being outside. A registered Maine guide, he greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing and was especially fond of flying a floatplane over the woods of Maine. Bob enjoyed working as much as any hobby, and at the time of his death was employed by Millinocket Department of Public Works. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, who enjoyed being with his family, watching his grandchildren play sports and helping others when he could.

Bob is survived by his wife of 34 years, Darlene M. (Berry) Robinson of Millinocket; four children, Michelle Thayer and her husband, Brian, of Hermon, Brian Berry and his wife, Joanna, of Millinocket, James Robinson and his wife, Andrea, of Millinocket and “Bobby” Robinson and his wife, Angie, of Jonesport; 10 grandchildren, Ashley, Tyler, Chelsey, Colby, Matthew, Lauren, Nikolas, Sydney, Krysten and Robbie; two sisters, Roberta Whalen and her husband, David, of Lincoln and Lisa McVey and her husband, Mark, of Brewer; an uncle, Colby Tapley; an aunt, Dotty Crouse; nieces and nephews, Carol, Shawn, Michael and Melissa Rose; many cousins. He will also be missed by special friends, Fred and Yvette, John and Nancy, and Rick and Jonnie; and many other close friends, too numerous to list. In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his stepmother, Rose Robinson.

Friends are invited to visit with the family 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, at Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket, to remember, celebrate and honor Bob’s life.
