NORTHFIELD – Ryan Allan Calor, 29, beloved son of Michael K. and Wendy S. (Williamson) Calor, died unexpectedly March 8, 2011, after a short illness. A large, powerful man with a gentle soul and a kind heart, he was loved by everyone who knew him. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends too numerous to mention.

Ryan graduated with honors from Penobscot Job Corps in 2003, and worked with his uncle as a carpenter. He also worked with his grandparents at Margaretta Motel, Machias, and sold blueberries with his father. Ryan was a true Maine outdoorsman who loved anything in the woods or on the water, especially if it involved his father, Michael, and his brother, Aaron. He loved to hunt and fish and pursue virtually any outdoor activity. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was a pleasure to be with, always smiling and willing to help.

He is survived by his parents, Michael and Wendy Calor of Northfield; one brother, Aaron Michael Calor and his girlfriend, Dawn Crocker, of Northfield; maternal grandparents, Bruce and Donna Williamson of Machias; two uncles, Craig Calor of Northfield and Chris Calor of Ellsworth; two aunts, Julie Calor Vittum of Ellsworth and Vicki Espling of Machias; cousins, Michael and Julianne Vittum, Paris Calor, Heidi and Adam Weaver, Jana and Aiden Espling; and a great-aunt, Muriel Berry. Ryan was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Julia and Allan “Bud” Calor.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. March 16 at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, 220 Court St., Machias. Condolences may be made online at
