Good job, governor, you have left them room to maneuver within your budget recommendation but asked them not to change the bottom line. It’s the bottom line that is of major concern to the people of Maine; this will allow the taxpayers to see where the elected officials in the Legislature stand.

The governor standing by his budget is an example of leadership. Why submit a budget if you are not committed to seeing it passed as closely as possible to the original? If the Legislature finds a better way of doing it, then they are welcome to put it in front of the governor.

Senate votes to weaken Maine’s seat belt law
Granted you have to be pretty numb not not wear a seat belt, but I’m glad to see this law go away. It seemed more like an excuse for the police to be able to pull you over for any reason – and say they thought they didn’t see a seat belt – than anything else.
