ALLAGASH and FORT KENT – Elbert Gardner, 68, died unexpectedly March 15, 2011, at his Allagash residence. He was born Jan. 17, 1943, at the Bishop Place, son of Wilbur and Eva (Mullins) Gardner.

Elbert served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of American Legion Jandreau-Connors Post No. 180, St. Francis, and Fort Kent Masonic Lodge No. 209. He will be remembered for his passion of the woods, and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 11 years, Janice (McBreairty) Gardner of Allagash; one son, Earnie Gardner of New York City; one stepdaughter, Josie and her husband, Louis Pelletier III; two stepgranddaughters, Emma and Lydia Pelletier, all of Allagash; seven brothers and sisters, Annie and her husband, Niles McBreairty, Lester and his wife, Beulah Gardner, Judy Hafford and companion, Mike Magnanini, Diane Weimer, Patty and her husband, Louis Jr. Pelletier, Wilbur Gardner, and Gary and his wife, Paula Gardner; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Elbert was predeceased by one brother, Danny Gardner.

Friends may call 2-8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at Daigle Funeral Home, 14 East Main St., Fort Kent, where funeral services and full military honors will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday with Gary Gardner officiating.
