OLD TOWN – Dorothy R. St. Louis, 78, died peacefully March 17, 2011, after a long, hard and courageous battle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. She was born April 24, 1932, in Exeter, a daughter of Melba Reynolds.

Dorothy was a strong woman with a unique sense of humor, and enjoyed chatting with people. She would always make those with her laugh and smile. She enjoyed playing Beano, going to yard sales, knitting, crocheting and the companionship of her cat, Mitzi. Above all else, Dorothy lived her life for her two children and her husband. She worked long and hard at area shoe shops to support her family until health reasons forced her to retire early.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Charlie St. Louis of Old Town; two children, Brenda Theriault and her husband, Bruce, of Greenbush and Andrew St. Louis and his significant other, Carol Clark, of Dixmont; three grandchildren, Candy St. Louis, Jennifer Nevells and Bruce Theriault; three great-grandchildren, Justina, Kole and Mason; and uncle, Harry Reynolds. She was predeceased by her mother; an infant son, Danny; and a grandson, Christopher. The family thanks all the staff at Orono Commons for the wonderful and compassionate care given to Dorothy during her last days.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord, Holy Family Church, Old Town. Immediately after the service all are invited to the parish hall for a light luncheon and continued fellowship. Interment will be at a later date at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association of Maine, 122 State St., Augusta, ME 04330 or visit www.mainelung.org.
