VAN BUREN – Rene G. Mazerolle, 69, died unexpectedly March 20, 2011, at his St. Francis Street residence. He was born March 15, 1942, in St. Andre, New Brunswick, son of Jim and Ida (Martin) Mazerolle.

Rene was an Army veteran of the Canadian armed forces. He was a member of American Legion Post of Waterville, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Canadian Legion. Rene owned and operated a pool and game room in Van Buren for many years.

He is survived by nine sisters, Gemma Therrien of St. Basile, New Brunswick, Therese Lapointe, Sister Ghislaine Mazerolle, S.M., Huguette Rheaume and Denyse Mazerolle, all of Edmundston, New Brunswick, Anita Soucy of Caribou, Sister Gaetane Mazerolle, S.M. of Ste. Anne, New Brunswick, Anne Marie Vigiolotti of Pittsburgh, and Fernande Cote of Moncton, New Brunswick; and four brothers, Roger Mazerolle and Mathieu Mazerolle, both of Ste. Anne, New Brunswick, Jean Paul Mazerolle of St. Leonard, New Brunswick, and Lucien Mazerolle of Edmundston, New Brunswick.

Relatives and friends may call 9-10:30 a.m. Friday at Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church.
