YARMOUTH – Edward W. Young Sr. died March 12, 2011. He was born Aug. 12, 1921, in Brewer, the son of William S. and Myrtle Lillian MacLeod Young.

As a young boy he moved to Portland with his family. He was a 1939 graduate of Deering High School. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army as a staff sergeant. He married the late Julia Thomas Young, July 17, 1947, in Portland. Together they had five children. His children meant the world to him; he always kept them in mind in whatever he did. He and his wife started a business, Water Treatment & Equipment Co./Culligan, Yarmouth, in 1964, where he worked until a couple of days before his death. He spent a lot of time with his family at his summer camp on Stanley Pond, South Hiram, which he built with the help of his family, many friends and friends of his children.

He leaves behind his five children, Susan Young of Biddeford, Edward W. Young Jr. of Yarmouth, Nancy Siagel of Yarmouth, David T. Young Sr. of Yarmouth and William B. Young of North Yarmouth; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
