BLUE HILL – Doris Alberta Owen, 69, died peacefully March 27, 2011, at a Blue Hill hospital. She was born Aug. 4, 1941, in Blue Hill, daughter of Frederick and Doris (Grindle) Owen.
She was a graduate of George Stevens Academy. Doris worked at Union Trust Co. for 44 years. She enjoyed trips to Hawaii and Las Vegas. She loved feeding the birds and eating out with her friends from work. Her favorite hobby involved anything with a motor, including a snowmobile, tractor and a self-made dune buggy.
She is survived by her sister, Joyce Hopkins and husband, Ron; a niece, Tambra Hopkins and husband, Dave; a nephew, Grant Hopkins and wife, Lisa; close cousins, Gary Owen and wife, Dorothy, and Carol Bakeman; and stepmother, Alma Gray and husband, Gaylor, and their children, Bonnie Scholl and Scott Gray. She also leaves many caring friends and neighbors. She was predeceased by her parents; a nephew, Paul Hopkins; and an aunt, Florence Owen, who raised her from the time she was born as a premature baby.
