FRENCHVILLE – Clarence G. Dumond, 83, husband, father, grandfather, and guiding light, left this world peacefully March 28, 2011, at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home, Frenchville. He was born March 14, 1928, in St. John, the son of Joseph and Marie (Charette) Dumond.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War as a corporal. He received the World War II Victory Medal and certificate of recognition while serving his country. Later he worked as a train conductor for Bangor and Aroostook Railroad for 35 years, until his retirement in 1975. He belonged to the third degree Knights of Columbus Council No. 0352 and American Legion, both of Fort Kent.
Clarence was predeceased by his beloved wife of 55 years, Laurette, in 2007; their three children, Susan, Debra and Daniel; and by two sisters, Rita Lussier and Ida Ouellette. He is survived by his six children, Christine Collin and her husband, Ed, of Winthrop, Ann Plourde and her husband, Bob, of Fort Kent, Elaine Martin and her husband, David, of Ontario, Eileen Bouchard and her husband, Dan, of Fort Kent, Louise Nadeau and her husband, Steve, of Fort Kent and Dave Dumond and his wife, Wendy, of Fort Kent; 12 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews; and one brother, Leonard Dumond of Virginia.
Per Clarence’s wishes, committal services will be held May 19 at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery. Those who wish may donate in his memory to St. Joseph’s Nursing Home Activities Fund, Route 1 Box 426, Frenchville, ME 04745. Arrangements are a service of Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent.
