EAGLE LAKE – Lester Berube, 80, went to our Lord March 30, 2011, surrounded by his family at the Eagle Lake health care facility. He was born Jan. 2, 1931, at Eagle Lake, son of Fred and Sophie (Sirois) Berube.
Lester worked in the woods most of his life along side his brother, Odette. Lester, always putting his children first, would often eat last at the dinner table.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Joan (St. Germain) Berube of Eagle Lake; one son, Michael and his wife, Kerry Berube, of Presque Isle; six daughters, Diana and her husband, Oreen Saucier, of Presque Isle, Mary Ann Berube of Harwinton, Conn., Linda Saucier of Eagle Lake, Sharon Berube of Presque Isle, Donna and her husband, Scott Pelletier, of Eagle Lake, and Cathy Pelletier and her fiance, Mark Michaud, of Fort Kent; 23 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews; one brother, Odette and his wife, Joan Berube; and one sister, Claudette Berube, both of Eagle Lake. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one son, Richard; son-in-law, Tony Saucier; two brothers, Hampy and Ronald; and two sisters, Jeanne and Freda.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday and 9-10:30 a.m. Monday at Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Eagle Lake. Committal services will be held May 16 at the parish cemetery. Those who wish may donate in his memory to American Lung Association, 122 State St., Augusta, ME 04330.
