HERMON – Rudolf H. “Rudy” Haehnel, 72, husband of Christine (Harnish) Haehnel, passed away April 3, 2011, surrounded by his loving family at a Brewer health care facility. He was born Oct. 28, 1938, in West Reading, Pa., son of Herbert and Wally (Arnold) Haehnel.
Rudy was a loyal and dedicated father and husband. He was a member of Bangor Baptist Church. Rudy was a graduate of Wyomissing Polytechnic Institute and Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, N.J., where he studied mechanical engineering and was a member of Chi Phi fraternity. He worked for Textile Machine Works, Rockwell International and Magnatech International, where Rudy was vice president of engineering.
Rudy is survived by his loving wife of 47 years; his son and wife, Gradon and Wendy Haehnel of Hermon; his daughter and husband, Erika and Timothy Hazlett of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two sisters, Lucie Fainsbert of Somerset, N.J., and Elizabeth Heffner of York, Pa.; and his five grandchildren.
Memorial services will be planned for family and friends in Pennsylvania at a later date.
