ASHLAND – Inez Mabel McEachern, 91, died April 8, 2011, at Presque Isle Nursing Home. She was born Jan. 27, 1920, in Ashland, daughter of Albert and Mabel (Kennedy) Boxwell.
Inez lived in Ashland most of her life. She was an active member of Ashland Advent Christian Church until her last illness. She was employed as a cook at Ashland Central School for 17 years. She also volunteered at Good Shepherd Thrift Shop. She loved knitting, sewing, working in her flower gardens and visiting friends and neighbors.
Inez is survived by one daughter, Carol Cloukey and husband, Hubert, of Presque Isle; three sons, Cecil Lafland of Ashland, Harold Lafland of Washburn and Donald Lafland and wife, Sara, of Masardis; one sister, Hazel Lafland of Houlton; 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Cecile Lafland Sr., in 1971; her second husband, Arthur McEachern, in 2000; three brothers, Huber, Ervin and Burton Boxwell; four sisters, Mavis Moran, Avis Leclerc, Loena Sutherland and Merritta Hickman; and one son, Leslie Lafland.
Relatives and friends may call 1-2 p.m. Tuesday at Advent Christian Church, Exchange Street, Ashland, where a funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. William Harris, pastor, officiating. Interment will be later this spring at Ashland Municipal Cemetery. Those who wish may contribute in her memory to Ashland Advent Christian Church, P.O.
