NEWBURGH – Dolores Christine Toothaker, 81, passed away peacefully April 7, 2011, at a Brewer health care facility. She was born June 21, 1929, in Hampden, daughter of the late Monford and Christine (Arbuckle) Toothaker.

Dolores grew up in Hampden, attended Hampden schools and was a graduate of Hampden Academy, Class of 1947. While in school she was vice president of her class, played in the school band, as well as being involved with many other school activities. Dolores later moved to Newburgh, where she and her husband, Norris, raised their two sons. She worked as a secretary at Weatherbee School for 20 years. After her retirement she volunteered at the tourism center on Interstate 95 South, which later became a job she worked at for 15 years. In her free time Dolores enjoyed gardening, traveling, and being with her family and friends.

She is survived by her son, Kevin S. Toothaker and his fiancee, Janice Fuller; a granddaughter, Leann Toothaker; an aunt, Marjorie Wadleigh; a cousin, Mary Louise Wadleigh; sister-in-law, Marguerite “RD” Fearon and her husband, Donald; special friends, Cindy Philbrick and Honey Bartlett; as well as several special nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins. She was predeceased her husband, Norris E. Toothaker; a son, Randal Norris Toothaker; and her sister, Shirley E. Thayer.

Family and friends may visit 2-4 p.m. Sunday, April 17, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, where a service honoring her life will be held 6 p.m. Monday, April 18. Messages of condolence and memories may be shared through
