WESTON – Phillip “Dickie” Hayes, 78, beloved husband and father, passed away April 8, 2011, at his home. He was born July 27, 1932, at Lambert Lake, son of Guy and Ruby (Stover) Hayes.
He attended Danforth schools and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Korea, and a member of American Legion Post No. 45, Danforth. He married Lorraine Kelley Sept. 24, 1955. He had lived in Connecticut for many years working in factories, moving back to Maine in 1978, where he worked for Lucas Tree and Amero Hardware until his retirement. He played in country bands in Connecticut and Massachusetts. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lorraine; daughters, Jo Dreisch of Stafford Springs, Conn., and Pamela Hayes of Gardner, Mass.; and the joys of his life, his grandchildren, Galen Seavey of Manchester, Conn., Renai Beach and her husband, Dennis, and their son, Austin “Henry,” of Vanceboro, Charles Parker and his wife, Katrina, of Fort Gratiot Township, Mich., and Clarissa Parker and her partner, Todd Berry, and their children, Brandon McMannus and Gavin Berry, of Exeter, N.H.; a brother, Merle and his wife, Susan, of Danforth; sisters-in-law, Vivian Hayes of Stafford Springs, Conn., Norma Grass and her husband, Linwood, of Vanceboro; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He will also be missed by his cat, Stripes. He was predeceased by three brothers, Theodore, William and Guy Jr.; and sister, Ethel.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at Danforth Full Gospel Assembly, Danforth. Interment will be at Weston Cemetery. A time of fellowship will be afterward at the McKinnon Building. For an online register book and to leave condolences, visit
