WESTLAKE, Ohio, and FORT FAIRFIELD – Dorothy M. Whitehouse, 90, wife of the late Robert N. Whitehouse, passed away Tuesday morning, April 12, 2011, at Westbay Care and Rehab, Westlake, Ohio. She was born Sept. 9, 1920, in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Stephen and Mary Ann (Pelkey) Nichols.

She was educated in the Fort Fairfield school system and was married to Robert N. Whitehouse May 5, 1943. Dorothy had been employed by First National Grocery Store, Fort Fairfield, Fort Fairfield Woolworth, Caribou Woolco, and was an accomplished cake decorator. She had been a member of Fort Fairfield Community Wesleyan Church for many years, where she served in several capacities, and later attended Presque Isle Wesleyan Church prior to moving to Ohio.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Robert, July 4, 1993; three brothers, Kenneth, George and Ralph Nichols; and one sister, Minnie Gallagher. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, George and Emily Whitehouse of Arizona and Dr. Stephen and Diana Whitehouse of Albuquerque, N.M; two daughters, Ann Badt of Fairview Park, Ohio, and Jean Whitehouse of Leland, N.C.; one grandson, John Whitehouse of Tucson, Ariz.; one granddaughter, Susan Whitehouse of Lubbock, Texas; several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted later in the spring at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield, at a time to be announced by Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield.
