ETNA – Erick Currie Hamlin, 41, died April 13, 2011, at a Bangor health care facility after a long battle with cancer.

He was born Aug. 14, 1969, in Pittsfield, son of Geneva M. Hamlin.

He was a graduate of Hermon High School. For many years he was employed as a sales representative at N.H. Bragg, Bangor. Erick was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fly-fishing, camping, bow hunting and four-wheeling with his family and friends. He was a former member of Carmel Fire Department and a member of National Rifle Association.

He is survived by his wife, Shannon L. Hamlin of Etna; mother, Geneva M. Hamlin of Newport; father and his wife, Jim and Cheryl Walker of Hermon; six children, Kyle Hamlin of Hermon, Jocelyn Hamlin of Hermon, Enola Ward of Etna, Christian Ward of Etna, Justin Ward of Washington state and Joshua Gilbert of Bangor; one brother, James R. Walker II of Pennsylvania; two sisters, Becky Cargill of Hermon and Rachel Walker of Virginia; two grandchildren, Logan and Ethan; one uncle, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He will also be remembered by a special friend, Joel Stanhope of Carmel.
