INDIAN ISLAND – Joseph Francis Sr., 79, died April 13, 2011. Joseph was born Aug. 9 1931.
He served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War and received two Purple Hearts. Joseph worked as a police officer and K-9 handler with his dog, Lisa, for several years. He loved spending time with his family and was an outdoorsman. Joseph blessed his family and friends with kindness and love. He will be missed by all. Joseph was devoted to his beloved wife and married for 42 years.
He is survived by his wife, Rachel Francis; and eight sons, Chris, Troy, David, Mark, Calvin, Donald, Joseph Jr. and Bert. He is also survived by
three daughters, Susan, Shirley and Jo-Ann; one sister, Marjorie; and several grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, April 16, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Indian Island. A graveside military burial will be conducted at a later date at Togus National Cemetery. After the service friends are invited to share conversations and refreshments at the church hall.
