LINCOLN – Richard Leland Norris Sr., 64, died April 13, 2011, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Jan. 5, 1947, in Dexter, son of Carleton Norris Sr. and Catherine (Benner) Norris.
Richard worked in the woods all his life, starting at age 13 until he retired. He was a wonderful husband, father and friend. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed puttering around the yard. Richard was known as a good mechanic, if it had an engine he could fix it. He was a very generous man and wasn’t afraid to tell it like it is.
He is survived by his wife, Sherrill Norris of Lincoln; his children, Beth and Chris Cope of Dresden Mills, Richard “DJ” Norris Jr. and Robin Norris of Mattawamkeag, Shannon and Rick Dill, Candee and Jamie Goodine, and Michelle Norris and Josh Stanley, all of Lincoln; 10 grandchildren, Bobbi-Jo Norris, Christopher Cope, Chelsea Norris, Meagan Cope, Gavin Dill, Tristen Dill, Ayden Dill, Madison-Mae Dill, Abigail Norris and Daisha Goodine; one great-grandchild, Hayleigh Norris; three brothers, Carleton Norris Jr. of Molunkus, Robert and Gloria Norris, and Peter and Cheryl Norris, all of Mattawamkeag; a sister, Jeannie and Steve Kimball of Medway; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Sandra Tolle.
Graveside services will be held at a later date.
