BANGOR – Robert A. Richardson, 93, died April 13, 2011, at home with family by his side. He was the son of Alvin D. Richardson and Inez (Varney) Tozier.

A graduate of Orono High School, Class of 1935, Robert served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theatre, receiving two Purple Hearts. Bob was employed by Maine Distributors for 37 years. After his retirement, he enjoyed golf and was a member of Bangor Municipal Golf Course and Eastern Maine Seniors Golf Association.

Bob is survived by his daughter, Ann P. Lagasse of Bangor; one brother, W. Homer Richardson of Nashua, N.H.; sisters, Ruth M. Richardson of San Diego and Barbara Guay of Bradley; two stepbrothers, Harold Gallant of Yarmouth and Lawrence Gallant of Glenburn; one grandson, Michael J. Lagasse and his wife, Nicole, of Bangor; three great-granddaughters, Brooke Staton, Morgan Lagasse and Molly Lagasse, all of Bangor; and a special adopted granddaughter, Kimberly Hoxie of Bangor. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Harold and Alvin Richardson Jr.; and one sister, Hilda Hill. The family wishes to thank New Hope Hospice and the Community Health and Counseling Service. A special thanks to Dianna Mulligan HHA, Helen Hoover, R.N., and Wayne Seavey for keeping the flag flying.

A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta. A service of Brookings-Smith, Bangor.
