INDIAN ISLAND – Joseph “Sebat” Francis Sr., 79, died April 13, 2011, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Aug. 9, 1931, the son of Bert and Violet Shay Francis.
He served in the Marines during the Korean War, receiving two Purple Hearts.
Mr. Francis is survived by his wife, Rachel; and his 10 children, Donald, Bert, Shirley, Joann, Joseph Jr., Calvin, Mark, Troy, Chris and David. He is also survived by his beloved sister, Marjorie Bartley of Live Oak, Fla.; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, one brother and six sisters.
A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Indian Island. A burial with full military honors will be conducted at a later date at Togus National Cemetery. Friends are invited to share conversation and refreshment at the church hall after the services.
