MILFORD – Dennis Neil Cochrane, 69, passed away April 19, 2011, at his home with his family by his side after a short battle with cancer. Dennis was born March 9, 1942, on Water Street, Old Town, the son of Dorothy Alice (Eastman) and Collan Charles Cochrane.

He attended Old Town schools and graduated from Old Town High School in 1962. Dennis spent his entire life in the food industry. He started with Jack and Polly Cashman at Jack’s Restaurant and eventually became owner. He later worked at Guay’s Restaurant before becoming owner and operator of Burr’s General Store. He retired from Burr’s Store only to continue working at County Road Store, Jake’s Pizza and Restaurant, the Eagles Nest and eventually the Milford School lunch program – his daughter lovingly referred to him as the school lunch lady. He was a faithful member of United Baptist Church of Old Town. He enjoyed woodworking and building furniture, spending time at his cottage on Pushaw, walking with the “guys” at Old Town YMCA, doing jigsaw puzzles or a good sudoku book, and putting together his model trains.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Roseann of Milford; daughter, Christine Wolfe and her husband, Robert, of Dresden; son, Dennis Cochrane II of Lewiston; two grandsons, Brandon Wolfe of Dresden and Tyler Cochrane of Lewiston; brother, Dwight Cochrane and his wife, Linda, of Old Town; four brothers-in-law, Al Emerson and his wife, Michelle, of Old Town, Danny Emerson and his wife, Kathy, of LaGrange, Bruce Emerson and his wife, Debbie, of Aurora and Steve Emerson and his wife, Marie, of Texas; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Dennis was predeceased by his brother, Rodney; and his faithful companion, Rocky.

At Dennis’ request, there will be no visiting hours. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, April 23, at United Baptist Church of Old Town with the Rev. Bruce Stevens and the Rev. Scott Benner officiating. Interment will be after at Milford Cemetery. Afterward, all are invited to a light luncheon at the fellowship hall.
