LUBEC – Doris Mabel Robinson, 84, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at Orono Commons nursing facility. Born Dec. 26, 1926, in Waltham, Mass., she was the daughter of James and Martha Anderson.

Doris moved to Maine with her husband of 47 years, the late Roger Towse Robinson, in 1948. Together they owned and operated the family farm in north Lubec for many years. Doris was a loving homemaker, but also worked for many years as a secretary at North Lubec Mfg. & Canning Co. Doris was an active member of the community, who attended Christian Temple Church. She was constantly doing for others, and volunteered for many years at Oceanview Nursing Home. She also did volunteer work for Lubec Memorial Library, Meals for Me, West Quoddy Head Light House Visitors’ Center, and Woman’s Club Senior Social. She was secretary of Christian Temple Woman’s Group and Lubec Women’s Club. She loved to travel and throughout the years she had visited many of the nation’s 50 states. Doris touched the hearts of many and will be remembered as a hardworking, strong willed, determined individual who always was looking to help others and constantly put the needs of her family first.

Doris is survived by a large family, and many close friends through whom she will be remembered and missed. Doris is survived by her five children, Oscar Robinson and his wife, Linda, of Smithfield, Va., Judy Robinson of Hermon, Peter Robinson and his wife, Christina, of Lubec, Lance Robinson and his wife, Rosie, of Anchorage, Alaska, and Larry Robinson of Cathedral City, Calif.; brother-in-law, Robert Robinson and wife, Betty, of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; sister-in-law, Pauline Robinson of Charleston; six grandchildren, James Robinson, Jason Robinson, Brad Robinson, Sara Bailey, Christopher Robinson, Nathan Robinson and Jun-Mark Robinson; 11 great-grandchildren, Kaitlin, Mason, Bradley, Trace, Hannah, Sydney, Colby, McKenna, Hunter, Cooper, Jacob; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral arrangements will be announced at later date by McClure Family Funeral Services, Machias and Lubec.
