GARLAND – Floyd E. Murray, 86, died April 22, 2011, at a Dexter health care facility. He was born Jan. 25, 1925, in Corinna, a son of Wilfred Joseph and Grace (Giles) Murray.

He attended Corinna schools and moved to Garland at age 17. He married the former Beulah Green July 30, 1949. She predeceased him Sept. 22, 1992. Floyd was employed for 44 years at Fay-Scott Landis Machine Shop, Dexter, retiring in 1987. He was a charter member of Garland Fire Department, a member of Pacific Lodge No. 64 Masons and a past patron of Wassokeag Chapter No. 44 Order of the Eastern Star.

He is survived by his five children, Patricia and husband, Joseph Frank, of Fayetteville, Tenn., Dale and husband, Howard Thompson, of Madison, Ga., Gary and wife, Carmen Murray, of Lynnville, Iowa, Dorene and husband, Danny Adams, of Garland and Wilfred A. and wife, Barbara Murray, of Dexter; seven brothers, Darrell of Dexter, Mervin and Kenneth Sr., both of Garland, Royce and wife, Norma, of Utah, Jerry of Clinton, Richard of Sangerville and Wilfred Joseph Jr. of Hartland; three sisters, Pauline Getchell of Falmouth, Charlotte Wright of Derry, N.H., and Margaret Thurston of Sangerville; 18 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday, April 25, at Crosby & Neal, 61 Main St., Dexter, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Garland.
