MILLINOCKET – Mihail A. Margaronis, 60, passed away peacefully April 21, 2011, surrounded by his loving family at a Brewer health care facility.

He was born March 2, 1951, in Greece, the son of Antonios M. and Evangelia C. Margaronis.

Mike was a mechanical engineer and served in the Greek Merchant Marines on tankers.

He came to the United States in 1976 and worked for Maine Maritime Academy. Mike was an entrepreneur and owned several businesses during his lifetime. In 1981 he went to work for Great Northern Paper Co. and truly enjoyed living in the Millinocket area. He had a magnetic personality and love of life that drew people to him from all walks of life and from all over the world. Mike was a very active and devoted member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Bangor, since his arrival in the U.S. Mihail will be remembered as a devoted and loving father, Papou, companion and friend.

Mike is survived by his beloved companion, Elizabeth H. Cherneski; his treasured children, Reta-Maria Margaronis-Frekot and husband, Jason C. Frekot, Antonios M. Margaronis and Eleni O. Margaronis; a granddaughter, Sophia I. Frekot; three sisters in Greece and many dear friends. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother.

Family and friends may visit 7-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, where a Trisagion service will be conducted 7:30 p.m. Family and friends may also visit from 9 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 27, at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 90 Sanford St., Bangor; the Rev. Father Adam Metropoulos will officiate. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor.
