PEMBROKE, N.H. – Mr. Gary Lee Martin, 68, died Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at his home, after a lengthy battle with diabetes and congestive heart failure. Born Jan. 23, 1943, in Lima, Ohio, Gary was the son of Elmer and Helen (Fetter) Martin.

Having spent most of his life in Newport, Gary had lived in Concord, N.H., before moving to Pembroke, N.H. Gary worked as a welder and ironworker for more than 40 years. Most of those were at Cascade Iron Works and Mid State Machine. After retiring he became the animal control officer for the town of Newport. Working with the officers of Newport was his favorite job. He will always be remembered as a hard worker and a caring man by his family and friends.

In addition to his mother, Helen of Ohio, members of his family include his children, Scott and Kimberly Martin of Allenstown, N.H., Christine and Russ Fournier of Hillsboro, N.H., and Daniel and Loren Martin of Concord, N.H.; his grandchildren, Jeffrey, Kathrine, Dakota, Jacob and Rachel; and his two brothers, Ronald Martin of Westbrook and Lonny Martin of Plymouth.
