WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. – Betty A. Dorr, 56, passed away unexpectedly Friday, April 22, 2011, in Reno, Nev., where she had been visiting and helping to care for one of her brothers. She was born Feb. 14, 1955, in Milwaukee, daughter of Henry Dorr and Madeline (Dorr) Arnold.

She graduated from high school in Fairfield and had worked in the coding department at Dartmouth-Hitchcock

Medical Center. She had previously provided care as a licensed nursing assistant, both privately and through Lake Sunapee Region VNA and Hospice, prior to that she was a chef at Sargent Camp, Hancock, N.H. Betty was happiest spending time with her son, friends and family. She took many trips to Portland to visit her son, arranged an annual deep sea fishing trip with the boys, and cheered on her nieces and nephews at games. She was energetic, caring and constantly strived to make her own life better while helping everyone around her. She connected with everyone she met and leaves behind many friends.

She is survived by her son, Dominic Gioia of Portland; her mother, Madeline Arnold of Newport, N.H.; four brothers, David Arnold and his wife, Katie and children, Karina, Thomas and Jakob, of New London, N.H., Thomas Dorr and his wife, Nancy and children, MacKenzie, Meredith and Reilly, of Hillsboro, N.H., Donald Dorr and his wife, Adrienne, of Medford, Ore., and Kenneth Arnold of Reno, Nev.; and companion, Chris (Whale) Emory of Wilmot, N.H. She was predeceased by her brother, Richard Arnold of Alaska.

A memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Monday, May 2, at First Baptist Church, Main Street, New London, N.H. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Lake Sunapee Regional VNA and Hospice, P.O. Box 2209, New London, NH 03257.
