ROQUE BLUFFS – Adian “Ed” Smith Preston, 82, beloved husband and father, died Monday, April 25, 2011, in Machias, after a brief illness. He was born Oct. 2, 1928, in Roque Bluffs, son of the late Horace and Minnie (Morse) Preston Sr.
He was a retired civil service worker. In later years he loved lobster fishing. Adian loved the outdoors. He enjoyed walking and chopping wood. His greatest love was spending time with his family.
Adian was predeceased by four brothers, Horace Jr., Leo Sr., Bertram Sr. and Tyrone Sr.; three grandsons, Craig “CJ” Wood Jr. and twins, Shea and Riley Connelly; and a son-in-law, Herbert Wood Jr. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Edna (Kilton) Preston of Roque Bluffs; two daughters, Elaine M. Wood of Machiasport and Marlene Hall and husband, Karl, of Machias; two sons, Ivory “Fuzzy” Preston and wife, Valarie, and Martin Preston of Roque Bluffs; grandchildren, Craig Wood and wife, Brenda, of Machiasport, Lynn Connnolly and husband, Dennis, of Biddeford, Joshua Preston and wife, Lisa, of Nashville, Katie Orr and husband, Jason, of Farmington, Matthew Hall and wife, Suzanne, of Massachusetts, Marcus Hall and wife, Carrie, of Waterville, Micah Hall and wife, Ashley, of Massachusetts, Tanya Preston of South Portland, Derek Preston of New Hampshire and Emily and Adam Preston, both of Florida; three sisters, Alta Kilton of Machias, Mina Preston of Scarborough and Gail St. Jock of Westbrook; two brothers, Vernon Preston Sr. and Glen Preston Sr. and wife, Mina, of Roque Bluffs; sisters-in-law, Alice Mae Morse of Machias, Margaret Preston, Linda Preston and Sherrill Preston, all of Roque Bluffs; six great-grandchildren, Brooke Wood, Fiona Connolly, Natalee and Jaycee Orr and Adam and Evan Hall; many nieces and nephews.
