PRESQUE ISLE – Eleanor May Gould, 78, passed away Monday, April 25, 2011 at her residence. She was born Jan. 8, 1933, in Castle Hill, the daughter of Freeman E. and Viola V. (Vallette) York.
She worked many years as a live-in housekeeper. Eleanor was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary Post 2599, Presque Isle. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Billie A. and Kenneth L. Roy of Washburn and Gloria and Ron Legassie Jr. of Presque Isle; a brother, Alden York and his wife, Helen, of Presque Isle; a sister, Elizabeth E. Blethen of Bangor; and three grandchildren, David B. Roy, Daniel A. Roy and Lacie M. Legassie. She was predeceased by an infant daughter; three brothers, Walter J., Freeman E. Jr. and Albert York; and a sister, Ethland Rose Randall.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, with the Rev. Ken Fox officiating. Friends may call noon until time of service at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at
