CARMEL and CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Gloria G. Burgess passed away April 18, 2011, after a brave battle with cancer.
She was predeceased by her husband, Carl Burgess; and a son, James Burgess. She is survived by her daughters, Judith Burgess of Chapel Hill, N.C., and Diane Burgess Murphy of Carrboro, N.C.; stepsons, Robert Burgess and Walter Burgess of Tennessee and Larry Burgess of Connecticut; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren that she loved dearly.
She grew up in Dover-Foxcroft and attended Dover-Foxcroft High School. She loved to cook for her family, read, knit and crochet. She was a very kind and loving woman and will be sadly missed by all.
A memorial service is planned at her home this summer. Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the family, care of Judith Burgess, 1916 Mount Carmel Church Road, Chapel Hill, NC 27517.
