MEREDITH, N.H. – Jane E. (Hormell) Kiah, 68, of Waukewan Street, died April 25, 2011, at her home, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born Nov. 21, 1942, in Melrose, Mass., daughter of Dr. Robert and Catherine (McManus) Hormell of Melrose, Mass.

She grew up in Melrose, Mass., and graduated from Melrose High School. She also was a graduate of the University of Maine, Orono, where she earned her nursing degree. As a registered nurse, she taught nursing at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. Jane dedicated her life to public service. In 2008 she retired as executive director of Meredith Public Health Nursing Association, Meredith, N.H., after 34 years of public health service to the Meredith community. She was a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellowship Award, given to her by Meredith Rotary Club, for her years of community service.

Jane is survived by her husband of 47 years, Paul W. Kiah of Meredith, N.H.; three children, Gregory Kiah of San Diego, Catherine Borelli of Tuftonboro, N.H., and Richard Kiah of Dunbarton, N.H.; eight grandchildren, Thomas Kiah, Anthony Borelli, Phillip Borelli, Kiah Borelli, Gianna Borelli, Nicholas Kiah, Emily Kiah and Nathan Kiah; brothers, Robert Hormell of Reading, Mass., George Hormell of Taunton, Mass., and Mark Hormell of Ashland, N.H.; nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday at Mayhew Funeral Home, routes 3 and 104, Meredith, N.H. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Charles Borromeo Church, Route 25, Meredith, N.H. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for you to please make donations in Jane’s memory to Meredith Public Health Nursing Association, 186 Waukewan St., Meredith, NH 03253.
