NAPLES, Fla. – Mary E. Robinson, 73, passed away April 15, 2011, in Naples, Fla. She was born July 6, 1937, one of five daughters of Byron L. Robinson and Mary (Brown) Robinson.

Mary grew up in Southwest Harbor, where she graduated valedictorian from Pemetic High School in 1955. After graduation she moved to Washington, D.C., and was employed as a secretary for the government. Mary returned from Washington, D.C., and married Richard E. Allen. They moved to Oregon, where she had her only child, Vanessa Allen Stark. The family moved back to Maine and Mary continued to work as a medical secretary in Southwest Harbor. Her next move was to Terre Haute, Ind., with her second husband, Dr. Harold Rosene. She managed a busy medical office and attended classes at Indiana State University. She loved archeology, genealogy and writing. Her later years were spent in Naples, Fla., where she enjoyed her friends, researching her family tree, and her pets. Mary was an advocate for all animals, but had a special love for cats.

She is survived by her daughter, Vanessa Allen Stark and son-in-law, Timothy Stark; two sisters, Elsie Frost and Dorothy Worcester; brother-in-law, Warren Worcester; a niece, Lori Stoffel; three nephews, Duane Worcester, Craig Allen and Terry Allen; along with generations of cousins and great-nieces and great-nephews. Mary was predeceased by her parents; and sisters, Heidi Robinson and Agnes Allen.

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at Mount Height Cemetery, Southwest Harbor, in conjunction with a graveside service for her sister, Agnes Allen, which will be held 1 p.m. A reception will be afterward at Harbor Ridge Great Room, 39 Freeman Ridge Road, Southwest Harbor.
