MILBRIDGE – George Gilman Beal Sr., 62, died Wednesday, April 26, 2011, at his residence. He was born Feb. 12, 1949, in Ellsworth, the son of Ernest C. and Roberta C. (Sproul) Beal Jr.

George attended Milbridge schools and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked most of his life in the fishing industry as a lobsterman. He enjoyed doing word search puzzles and lobster fishing, but most of all George loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.

He was predeceased by his father, Ernest C. Beal Jr.; a sister, Cindy Beal; two brothers-in-law, Robert L. and Alfred Phinney; and one uncle, Harvey Beal. He is survived by his wife, Etta Beal (Phinney) of Milbridge; four sons, Robert Beal and his companion, Rachael, of Cherryfield, George Beal Jr. and wife, Kristine, of Cherryfield, Shawn Beal and his wife, Tricia, of Cherryfield and Kevin J. Beal of Cherryfield; three daughters, Melissa Beal and her companion, Kevin, of Milbridge, Billie Jean Beal of Cherryfield and Darcy Moon and husband, Robert, of Milbridge; two brothers, Frank Beal of Cherryfield and Dwayne Beal and wife, Joanne, of Milbridge; four sisters, Laura Brockman and husband, Bill, of Saco, Sally Beal of Cherryfield, Roberta Hipkins and her husband, Al, of Brunswick and Lela Michie and husband, John, of Levant; sisters-in-law, Eva Haycock and husband, Vaughn, of Milbridge, Shelley Phinney of Milbridge and Mary Wallace of Milbridge; one brother-in-law, Billy Phinney and wife, Ramona, of Milbridge; 10 very special grandchildren, Chelsea, Alex, Colby and Cindy Beal, Makayla Dorr, Layne Moon, Logan Beal, Michael Rolfe, Rhea-Lynn Beal and Nick Blanchard; and special nieces and nephews.

A graveside memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, at Evergreen Cemetery. Condolences may be made online at
