MILLINOCKET – Michael C. Boutaugh, 61, beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2011, surrounded by his family, at a Millinocket hospital. He was born Sept. 12, 1949, in Millinocket, the son of John J. and Berdina M. (Oakes) Boutaugh.
“Uncle Mike,” as he was known to many, grew up in Millinocket and was a graduate of Stearns High School, Class of 1967. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a Vietnam era veteran. He worked for Great Northern Paper Co., Millinocket, for 23 years, retiring in 1997. Mike was an active member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks No. 1521, Millinocket, and Donald Henry Post No. 80 American Legion, Millinocket. He enjoyed playing pitch and cooking, and loved his family and spending time with them.
Mike is survived by two daughters, Rachel Linhares and her husband, John, of Granbury, Texas, and Sara Boutaugh of Fort Worth, Texas; a granddaughter, Ava Grace Linhares; six siblings, Rowena Farmer, Benjamin Boutaugh and his wife, Chu, Vinal Boutaugh and his wife, Ann, Donna Gallant and her husband, Bill, Sharon Tanous and her husband, Greg, and Barbara McLean and her husband, Robert; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He will also be missed by a special friend, Paul Moir. In addition to his parents, Mike was predeceased by a brother, John O. Boutaugh; a brother-in-law, John Farmer; a niece, Jalene Farmer; and a nephew, Tyler Boutaugh.
Graveside services with military honors will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at Millinocket Cemetery. Gifts in memory of Mike may be sent to Katahdin Area Support Group, 10 Field St., Millinocket, ME 04462.
