GREENVILLE – Ronald A. Marsh, 76, died April 29, 2011, at C.A. Dean Hospital, Greenville. He was born Nov. 7, 1934, in Greenville, son of Bert and Elva (Calder) Marsh.

He served in the U.S. Army for 30 years. In Vietnam he served with the Green Berets and was a ranger during the Korean War. As a result of his service he received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart, retiring from the Army in 1987 with the rank of command sergeant major. After the service, he worked for Veterans Services, retiring in 1998.

He is survived by his wife, of 50 years, Josephine (O’Leary) Marsh of Greenville; a brother and his wife, Tom and Nancy O’Brien of Virginia; sisters-in-law, Barbara Travis and Ellie O’Leary, both of Massachusetts; and a brother-in-law, Daniel O’Leary of New Hampshire; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Ronald Marsh Jr.; and a daughter, Ellen Marsh.

Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, at Greenville Chapel of Crosby & Neal, at the Masonic building, Greenville, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 4. Burial will be later in the spring at Greenville Cemetery. For an online guest register, go to
