PORTLAND – Helena C. Webber, 93, longtime resident of St. Albans, Tampa, Fla., and 75 State St., Portland, passed away peacefully in her sleep May 5, 2011, at The Cedars. Helena was born Feb. 12, 1918, in Island Falls, the youngest of three children to Ray and Dola (Webb) Colson.
She graduated from Island Falls High School and beauty school in Bangor. Soon after graduating she was a hairstylist in Biddeford. There she met and married her first husband, Socrates Coronios. In 1946 she returned to Island Falls with her daughter, Judy. There she met and married George W. “Bill” Webber. They moved to St. Albans and reopened the Webber family farm, which entailed lots of work for all and became a thriving, successful operation. Due to Bill’s health issues they retired in 1974 to Tampa, Fla., where Helena lived and enjoyed retirement until 2004.
In addition to her parents, siblings and husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Coleen Webber; and grandsons, Darren Grant and Dennis Webber. Helena is survived by her daughter, Judy Coronios; son, Blaine Webber; grandson, Michael Grant; granddaughters, Tracey Lang and Diane Webber; great-grandchildren, Ashley and Connor; as well as several nieces and nephews.
There will be no visiting hours. Interment will be held in Sherman Mills at a later date. Arrangements are under the guidance of Independent Death Care, 660 Brighton Ave., Portland.
