ENFIELD, Conn. – Sister Mary Fabian Cymes, CSSF, died peacefully May 5, 2011, surrounded by her sisters and family, at the Holy Family Infirmary, Enfield, Conn. Sister was born and raised in Easthampton, Mass.

She became a member of the Felician Sisters in 1943. As a young religious she began a career in teaching, serving in schools in New England and New York. Sister received a Bachelor of Science degree from Fordham University in 1960 and a Master of Business Administration degree from Notre Dame University in 1966. Sister Fabian was sent to Bangor to the “new” St. Joseph Hospital in November 1964 to establish the human resources department. In 1986 she accepted the role of corporate director of personnel for St. Joseph Healthcare Foundation. Continuing education was important to her role and to maintaining a quality department. Sister will be missed by many of the employees she assisted in various ways throughout her 43 years here in Bangor prior to retiring and joining the Sisters in Enfield, Conn. In her quiet, unassuming manner she has left a strong mark on the organization.

Visiting hours will be 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday, May 8, at Our Lady of Angels Convent Chapel, Enfield, Conn., where the funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 9. Donations may be made in her memory to St. Joseph Healthcare, P.O. Box 1638, Bangor, ME 04402-1638.
