EAST MILLINOCKET – Earl A. McCormack, 90, husband of the late Evelyn (White) McCormack, died May 7, 2011, at a Lincoln hospital. He was born Oct. 17, 1920, in Bancroft, the son of Nelson and Sylvia (Braun) McCormack.

Earl was a decorated World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, receiving the Bronze Star Medal. He traveled extensively across the U.S. attending Army reunions. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting and tending to his garden. He loved being with his family and especially visiting with his granddaughters. He was a loving father and grandfather and will be sorely missed by all.

He is survived by three children, Debra Breunig and her husband, William, of King’s Park, N.Y., Arnold E. McCormack of East Millinocket and Lorrie Cooney and her husband, Robert, of Fayetteville, N.Y.; a brother, Frank McCormack of Alton; three granddaughters, Allison Giardini and her husband, Anthony, of Brockton, Mass., Megan Cooney of Portland and Erin Cooney of Philadelphia; two great-granddaughters, Angelina and Isabella Giardini; numerous sisters-in-law, several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind a special friend, Una Durham; as well as his dog, Babe. In addition to his wife of 64 years, Evelyn, he was predeceased by a grandson, Gregory Breunig; several brothers and sisters.

A memorial and committal service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at East Millinocket Cemetery with Pastor Tim Bossie officiating. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Earl’s life after the service at First Baptist Church, East Millinocket.
