RIPLEY – Roger C. “Eldon” Leavitt, 73, husband of Florence B. Leavitt, died peacefully May 5, 2011, with his family by his side at Mayo Regional Hospital, Dover-Foxcroft. He was born March 27, 1938, in Cambridge, son of Ralph C. and Mona (Brazier) Leavitt.
Roger was a dedicated and loving husband and father. He served in the U.S. Army and retired from Dexter Shoe Co. in 1999. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his best friend, Bill Carsten.
He was predeceased by his sister, Maxine Alton of Cambridge. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years; his brother, Clint and his wife, Charlotte, of Dexter; his sisters, Sally Cowette of Guilford, Jackie and her husband, Carlton Bailey, of Cambridge and Debbie and her husband, Roland Locke, of Cornville; his sons, Jeffrey Leavitt of San Antonio and Randy and his wife, Nara Leavitt, of Levant; his daughters, Jane and her husband, Randy Hall, of Dover-Foxcroft and Susan and her husband, Michael Crane, of East Corinth; grandchildren, Joshua, Jason and Jessica Lord, Terri Leavitt, Trevor Leavitt, and Branden and his wife, Betsy Leavitt; five great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
There will be a celebration of his life held 1-4 p.m. Thursday, May 12, at his residence.
