HOLDEN, Maine — Fields Pond Audubon Center will hold its annual Spring Fest, a celebration of International Migratory Bird Day, 7 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at the center.
This year’s activities will include bird walks, bird banding, live owls from Birdsacre in Ellsworth, live goats from Olde Oak Farm, a children’s activity area and yoga. Support is provided by Maine Outdoor Heritage Fund.
Events are free, but donations are appreciated. The schedule is:
• 7-8:30 a.m. Bird walk with Bruce Barker, Jerry Smith.
• 8:30-11:30 a.m. Bird banding with master bander Rad Mayfield.
• 9-10 a.m. Mixed level yoga.
• 9-11 a.m. Birding by ear, walk with Steve Coleman, for visually impaired people and everyone interested in bird songs.
• 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Cheese sale and live goats with Olde Oak Farm.
• 10 a.m.-11 p.m. Discovery Room: “Destination Migration for Families.”
• 10 a.m.-noon. Children’s activity area with Penobscot River Restoration Trust and Endangered Species Day enthusiasts.
• 11 a.m.-noon. Insect walk with Philip Stack, entomologist.
• 11 a.m.-noon. Music by the North Woods Balladeer.
• Noon-1 p.m. Birdsacre Live Owls program.
