MADAWASKA – Valeda M. Michaud, 83, passed away March 10, 2011, at a Madawaska health care facility. She was born July 11, 1927, in St. David, daughter of the late Felix and Lena (Ayotte) Cyr.
Valeda is survived by one daughter, Bernice Levesque and her husband, Real, of St. Basile, New Brunswick; one son, Kenneth Michaud of Bolton, Conn.; two granddaughters, Kelly Levesque of Morrisville, Pa., and Thais Smart and her husband, Steve, of Fort Kent; two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Sara Smart, both of Fort Kent; two sisters, Artheline Cyr and her husband, Leon, of Edmundston, New Brunswick, and Jeanne Caron and her husband, Donat, of Connecticut; six brothers, Gilbert Cyr and his wife, Therese, of Bangor, Roland Cyr and his wife, Phyllis, of Connecticut, Normand Cyr and his wife, Betty, of Connecticut, Chanel Cyr of Madawaska, Bertrand Cyr and his wife, Pat, of Connecticut, and Enoil Cyr and his wife, Barbara, of Connecticut; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry S. Michaud; one sister, Aurore Martin; and one brother, Ernie Cyr.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. May 19 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. There will be a receiving line at church 9 a.m. until the time of service for those who wish to offer their condolences. Interment will take place immediately after the service. For online condolences, please visit
