HERMON – Dennis E. Demmons Sr., 68, husband of Linda F. (Brooks) Demmons, died May 15, 2011, at a Bangor hospital. He was born May 11, 1943, in Bangor, the son of W. Eugene and Doris O. (Dulac) Demmons.
Dennis worked for General Electric, Bangor, as a welder for 29 years, where he made many lasting friendships and
liked playing on the GE golf, bowling and softball teams. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing with his brother, Louis and playing in foursome tournaments with Barry, Chip and Denny. Dennis always knew the “short cuts” when on long car rides, he was a dedicated Red Sox fan and was a volunteer driver for Lynx Transportation. Dennis loved helping his family.
A devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather, he is survived by his wife of 49 years of Hermon; two children, Dennis E. Demmons Jr. and his wife, Kimberly, Kelly Price and her husband, Derek; three grand-children, Kasey Davis and her husband, Jeffrey, Jody Demmons, Lily Jade Price; one great-grandson, Riley Dean Davis; two brothers, Walter Demmons and his companion, Darlene, and Louis Demmons and his wife, Lucille; four sisters, Marguerite Kelley and her husband, David, Mary Mulldune and her companion, Mike Tammany, Betty and her husband, Roger, Barbie Potter and her husband, Ed; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Roberta Demmons, Ken Robinson, Ben Gunn and his wife, Jan, Chip Brooks and his wife, Sherry, Pat Gunn and his wife, Norma; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; one sister, Marie Robinson; a brother, Donald Demmons; two sisters-in-law, Norma Demmons and Mary Gunn; and brother-in-law, Junior Mulldune.
Family and friends may visit 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor, where a service honoring his life will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, with the Rev. Judy Ahles presiding. Burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor.
