JONESBORO and BANGOR – Adelaide “Addie” (Look) Damon went to rest with the Lord April 18, 2011. She was born March 12, 1919, the daughter of Joel and Elizabeth (White) Look. She was the baby of the family and was welcomed by her four brothers and older sister.

While attending Jonesboro High School, she spent many evenings tending Jonesboro Telephone Co. switchboard, which was owned by the family, and in her spare time clerked in the family’s general store. After high school graduation she earned her teaching certificate from Washington State Normal School and later received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maine. She accepted her first teaching position in Stetson, where she met her beloved husband, John. John and Addie began their life together on the Damon Brothers Dairy Farm and moved to Bangor in 1958, when Addie accepted a teaching position at Fairmont School, where she taught fourth and second grades until she retired. Addie and her husband spent many weekends going on rides, eating out and shopping. She enjoyed entertaining in her home and always was happy to see Jonesboro family and friends when they came to Bangor. Addie maintained her membership at Jonesboro Union Church and attended Columbia Street Baptist Church, Bangor, when she was able. She was a member of Christian Women’s Club, Alpha Delta Kappa, Daughters of the American Revolution, Pithian Sisters and Knit-Wits.

She is survived by her son, Crosby and his wife, Twila; a special cousin, Evelyn Dowling; many nephews and nieces. Addie was predeceased by her parents, Joel and Elizabeth; husband, John; brothers Shirley, Orin, Sidney and Colby; sister, Winona Look Feeney; and nieces, Janet Look Boucher and Margaret Look Neal.
